Target Market of the Ayutthaya Homestay

Target Market

The main target market of Ayutthaya homestay are the forgeiners who are explorer type of tourists and the backpackers that like to observe and preserve natural environment, for example, those voluntary tourist, ecotourist and sustainable tourist. These types of tourists are nature-based tourists who likely to spend time with the local people aimming to study and learn the local way of life including having an opportuinity to experience the local activities. They like to spend time in the nature rather than travelling to the civilize cities or developed destinations and spend large amount of money to buy those comfortable facilities.

Why???
The reasons that I decide to aim for this type of target market are because...
1. The tourist attractions at the village such as the temple and natural environment which represented the local culture can be very attractive to those foreign explorers and backpackers who are interested in and want to study Thai culture. Moreover, the surroundings are very natural as it haven't been invaded by the outsiders. There are lots of green area and the small stream.

(this kind of tourist attraction is very attractive to the foriegners)

2. The facilities of the village haven't been delevoped much. This is a very good opportunity for the foreign explorers and backpackers to experience the local way of life and also the local activities closely. Tourists can live excatly in the same way as the villagers. They will eat and sleep in the same way as the villagers.

3. The accomodation is not that comfortable which is not appropriate to the elite type of tourists who prefer to stay in a 5 star hotel with full facility and comfort. There is no exclusive restaurants facilitate those types of tourists.

4. One of the most important reason that this homestay should aim for this type of target market is because this type of traveller creates the least impact to the nature and the environment of the destinations. They do not change the local way of life of local people. Therefore, this village can maintain the prosperous environment and the local culture.

In conclusion, in my oponion, the foreign explorers and backpackers which are those ecotourists, sustainable tourists and volunatary tourists should be the major target market for this homestay because their lifestyle are match. Also they do not create the negative impact to the local society and environment.

Web 2.0 and business

In the current era of globalization, world has changed dramatically. Technology has also evolved. There are many latest technologies that benefit many business. One of them is Web 2.0 . This type of websites is very useful for the business in terms of the connection and communication through social networking. As your business will be known spreadly out. For example, your business starts with having only 1 contact in your list. Without doing anything, other people or friends of the person in your contact will know your business through that person. Then, contact of those people will get to known you repeatedly in the same way. Moreover, it also allows your business to express the ideas and also share the information.

Web Ads

To advertise and promote our TIM program on the website, i would recommend using 2 websites since the target market of MUIC can be divided into 2 types which are International students and local Thai students. In term of international students, from my point of view, website google is the most suitable one because it is one of the most popular serch engins that people use worldwide. Moreover, with cost-per-click pricing, we are allowed to control the budget easily which should be around 30 baht per day. Once each customer clicks into our website, we will be charged only 0.50 baht per click.

In terms of local students, I would suggest to advertise in website "dek-d.com" which is very popular among Thai high school students and it will cost only 300-1800 baht per month.

Example of TPS in F&B Department

1. Reservation System

This system can be used in the F&B Department such as in the restaurants and bars. It is apparent that the system is very useful. Customers can make a reservation via the system easily. Once a booking is made the available resources need to be reduced by the same number or resources and transaction records will be updated in the database. For example, the restaurant has a total of 60 seats, when customers log on to the systems and reserved 2 seats then the available seats will be automatically deducted to 58 seats.

2. Point of Sale (POS)

POS is the system that is in place for purchases involving EFTPOS (electronic funds transfer at point of sale). The POS is very functional. For F&B Department in the hotels, when a transaction takes place, details are typed in and any required credit card payment are made, then coded inventory data is sent through to update the database and the inventory, also bank balance is updated. With a POS system:

  • You can analyze sales data, figure out how well all the items on your shelves sell, and adjust purchasing levels accordingly. So you can see what dish is the most popular and what dish is difficult to sell.
  • You can maintain a sales history to help adjust your buying decisions for seasonal purchasing trends. What to order more and what should be order less eg. Order more fish but less chicken.
  • You can improve pricing accuracy by integrating bar-code scanners and credit card authorization ability with the POS system.
